GEMS (Global Energy Management and Supply) is one of the global business units of ENGIE. About the role
Initially, you will join the GEM UK shift team based in London. After an initial period of training and authorisation, you will spend twelve months fully integrated in the GEM UK shift team. Following this period, you will then undertake a further 12 month placement in a European 24/7 shift team, immersing yourself in the Energy Systems, markets and assets of a new geography and enabling you to contribute to the growth of a second team.
This role will enable the successful candidate to further their career in energy and in particular the unique opportunity to become involved with the optimisation of the UK’s largest pumped hydro facility, First Hydro. Note that the second rotation in a European country is likely to be in Italy, Spain or Belgium. The ability to communicate in Spanish or Italian will be an advantage in those geographies.
ENGIE are recruiting for a Shift Trader – UK and European Rotation Pool based in London . This is a Permanent role, working full time Monday to Friday. On offer is a competitive salary, bonus and benefits package.
Key Requirements
The shift trader will:
Optimise assets in short term markets;
Identify and drive implementation of value adding strategies in short term;
Interface with clients, control rooms and other key stakeholders regularly;
Be flexible, working as part of a 24/7 shift team, initially in London and at times alone;
Accurately undertake operational tasks and procedures
Pursue continuous improvement of processes and systems
Work in line with regulatory and policy requirements;
Key Responsibilities
Numerate, commercially-driven and educated to degree level, the successful candidate will exhibit the following skills/ Demonstrated numerate capability;
Clear written and verbal communication, fluent in English;
Ability and confidence to take ownership of issues, managing to resolution; and,
Decisive in the face of incomplete information.
Candidates that additionally hold proven coding skills will be considered favourably.
