Are you ready for the next step in your social care career? Could you mentor a team whilst supporting people with learning disabilities?
We love what we do and are recognised as an award-winning charity for our passion and dedication. Join us as a Senior Support Worker and you'll soon see why.
About the role
You'll be Senior Support Worker at our services in Tooting/Streatham, which are home to 12 people aged 40 to 80. They enjoy getting out and about to the local parks and places of interest, eating out, going to the cinema and shows, and shopping. You'll support them to attend day centres, church services and to visit family. At home, people like to cook and bake, watch TV, plus listen to and make music, along with enjoying puzzles and games. (Of course at the moment, it is difficult to get out much, and so we are focusing on interesting activities in the home.)
As a Senior, you'll develop rotas and deputise for the Frontline Manager. You will work closely with the staff team, ensuring people's support plans are followed. You'll encourage the team and meet development needs, whether that's by way of formal training or day-to-day coaching and reflection.
You'll support people as they go about their daily lives, encouraging them to keep up with their interests and hobbies. The people here require assistance with intimate care or medication. They can display challenging behaviour when stressed, and you'll support them to manage their emotions and conduct.
This is a full-time role, 38 hours a week. You'll take your turn working shifts on a rota with a mixture of early and late shifts (7am to 3pm / 3pm to 10pm) including weekends, plus a sleep-in once a fortnight. You'll also be part of the on-call rota.
What we need from you
You will need some experience working with vulnerable people, ideally those with learning disabilities. Perhaps you have been a Support Worker or Care Assistant and are ready for more responsibility. It's important that you share our values, and are ambitious to grow and develop.
You'll need to be flexible and organised, with a positive approach. You must be a driver with a manual licence, to drive the service vehicle.
We are an Award-winning Charity with the core belief that everyone has potential, something to offer and a valuable contribution to make to their community.
We use a person centered approach to keep the people we support safe, happy and healthy and to ensure each individual is able to live a life that makes sense to them. Using a Positive Behavior Support strategy ensures we see the person first, not their disability.
