The Role & Responsibilities
This role is part of the Group Credit Risk Function which sits in the 2nd Line of Defence and is tasked with the development and on-going maintenance of the Bank's Credit Risk Management Framework. In that capacity the role holder will play an active role in the analysis and understanding of the credit risks being accepted by the Bank and ensure both Credit Risk Policies and Asset Class policies are understood and respected. The role holder will be required to exercise a personal delegated lending authority and participate in ad hoc projects as required.
Support the continuing evolution, implementation, and maintenance of the Bank's Credit Risk Management Framework.
Contribute to the development and maintenance of the Bank's Credit Risk Appetite Framework.
Review & input to new product development proposals and the periodic review of existing products.
Contribute to the review of Asset Class policies as well as amendments and changes proposed from time to time.
Prepare papers for Approval, Noting or Discussion at the Bank's various Risk Committees. Following up outstanding Action Points from Risk Committees.
Provide cover for minute taking at the Bank's Credit Approval Committee & other Executive Risk Committees.
Contribute to the analysis, review and comment on Credit Portfolio performance including monitoring of Watch Lists and Impairments.
Monitor & report compliance with risk appetite and concentration risk limits.
Participate in one off "Deep Dive" reviews of the potential impact on Lending portfolios of one-off Credit or macro-economic events, as required by the Chief Credit Officer or Head of Underwriting
Preferably educated to Degree Level, and ideally supported by a professional qualification in Banking or Risk Management.
Experience of commercial banking operations and products - ideally across some or all of Property, Retail Banking, Consumer Finance and SME's.
Background of operating and managing within a control environment and compliance with operating procedures and risk policies.
Previous Credit Risk and/or internal audit experience.
Knowledge of Commercial Banking credit risk policy frameworks or experience in analysing SME proposals and underwriting required.
Exposure to internal audit in a financial services environment helpful.
Knowledge of the current regulatory regime applicable to banking institutions an advantage.
Developing business judgement and willingness to adopt an entrepreneurial view.
Collaborative with the ability to develop strong working relationships across a diverse and fast-growing organisation.
Conscientious with good attention to detail and accuracy.
