Senior Communications Lead for international event, Hybrid, £47,000-£55,000 salary.

A Government organisation are in search for a Senior Communications Lead to join their team for a legacy project in 2023 on a fixed term basis to December 2023. With a fantastic salary comes an array of benefits alongside working with some of the best talent in the industry.

The legacy event will have a worldwide reach and needs a brand focussed, engaging candidate to promote the event to stakeholders, media, influencers, and the public. Reporting to Head of Marketing and Communications and working closely with the CEO, you will have to anticipate and mitigate any reputational risk from which a high-profile event can unfold.

The ideal candidate would present experience in public sector communications with a background in sporting events and PR.

You would be experienced in:

  • Delivering publicity strategies and campaigns to maximise media reach and engagement.
  • Co-ordinating a national and local communications strategy for wider agencies such as Police Scotland and with local business and residents, coordinating with Local Authorities the run up to and during the event.
  • Drawing on existing and creating new relationships with print, broadcast and digital journalists, influencers and thought leaders.
  • Content development for media articles, social media posts and press releases, managing enquiries from media, individuals, and other organisations.
  • Analysing of media coverage and wider insight into relevant trends, opportunities, and reputational risks.
  • Logistical set up the media centre at the event in collaboration with event partners.
  • Working with Influencers and event ambassadors to collaborate and drive awareness of the event.
  • Representing the event at key media and networking opportunities, managing the activity of our PR Agency to deliver overall communications objectives.
  • Advise and coach the CEO, directors, Board and Chair on external communications, interviews and proactive approaches to any crisis communications and prepare briefings as required.
  • Previous major sport or cultural events with proven success in managing the day-to-day media and PR operation.
  • An international outlook and experience having worked successfully with world class events, athletes, multiple stakeholders, sports federations and/or commercial partners.
