QA Manager

I am currently recruiting for an experienced Quality Assurance Manager / Lead Auditor to join a leading and continuously expanding retailer based within the QA / Buying department at the Head Office in North London.

You will be responsible for leading the Quality Assurance (QA) function for the brand portfolio, being responsible for the development and continuance of QA operations, Food Legislation, and Ethical Trading development and implementation across the business. Ensuring Food products are compliant to current legal requirements. Working with Technical departments and external testing providers to develop testing for new product lines ensuring only quality products reach the customer. Working with the Quality & technical team to maintain project delivery timescales. Your main responsibilities as the Quality Manager will include;

  • Review and develop effective QA processes across the brand.
  • Working collaboratively with internal teams and regional wholesale QA and Ethical Trading teams, ensuring nationally agreed standards of compliance are achieved.
  • Ensuring quality standards are adhered to with existing and new suppliers.
  • Continually review suppliers responsible for escalated complaints management
  • Develop and maintain an effective crisis management process, responsible for resolving issues raised by enforcement authorities.
  • Understanding EU product safety legislation and be the main authority on any food and packaging legislative changes
  • Working with and reporting to multiple Stakeholders
  • Manages product complaints and supplier quality issues.
  • Developing relationships with external testing bodies

Key requirement for the role;

  • Proven previous experience leading a QA function, and team management withing Substantial experience within food & drink environment.
  • Degree in Food science, food manufacturing, nutrition, food safety and management essential.
  • Ability to manage various projects simultaneously.
  • BRC trained with significant experience in auditing and visiting suppliers in the UK and EU. Also, HACCP level 4 with experience.
  • Retail Category experience across food is a must but also non-food products experience is an advantage.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong working knowledge of EU regulations
