About The Role

ENGIE are recruiting for a Project Director (construction) basedin Dinorwig Power Station, Llanberis. This is a Permanent role, working full time Monday to Friday. On offer is a competitive salary, bonus and benefits package.

The main focus of the role is the effective co-ordination and deployment of competent ENGIE and consultant/contract resources to drive delivery of a major project being undertaken by external contractors (CAPEX of hundreds of millions of GBP ) . The project will replace the key mechanical and electrical equipment of the 1,728MW Dinorwig pumped storage power station to enable it to operate beyond 2050.

Key Responsibilities

• Leading and managing a major project through its contract negotiation, preparation execution phase and handover to O&M phases.
• Management of up to seven Projects that when combined deliver the Dinorwig refurbishment.
• Responsibility for management of Dinorwig refurbishment project team which could extend to 30 to 40 personnel at peak periods.
• Total site maximum manning level (including contractors) at peak of construction for unit refurbishment could exceed 300 personnel for Dinorwig Refurbishment.
• Leading, promoting and developing the safety culture at project level
• Ensuring the proper identification, definition and follow-up of project risks and management of associated actions

Key Requirements

• Extensive knowledge of power generation or similar engineering industry and the application of quality, health & safety requirements for plant refurbishment work in that setting.
• Proven effective leadership skills and the ability to adapt to working in different environments and complex organisations (matrix management).
• Significant demonstrable experience of managing a number of project managers and multi-disciplinary technical project teams working on a major investment programmes with a value >£50m
• Proven experience of managing complex engineering projects of >£200M exposure
• Proven delivery of Health and Safety strategies that mitigate the risk of exposure to hazards of personnel and mitigate plant loss.
• Extended experience of refurbishment and construction involving commissioning of major plant systems as a Project Manager and Project Director.
• Significant experience of field work in the energy sector working on large scale plant and in a complex environment. Experience in hydro or brownfield projects is an advantage in particular where project delivery is undertaken alongside routine business operations.
