Hybrid working circa 2 days a week, with some periods needing more onsite working depending on project lifecycle

Likely to include international travel 2-3 times a year for onsite integration/trials etc.

Ultra Precision Control Systems (PCS) has an opportunity for an experienced Principal Software Engineer to join a dedicated multidisciplinary Integrated Product Team developing software defined solutions for next generation soldier systems.

To be successful you will be an experienced C++ developer, capable of leading the implementation and integration of components within wider headless system running the Linux operating system. You will work across the entire development life cycle, from planning and requirements capture to product delivery. There is also an opportunity to support system integration activities with partners and customers.

Duties and Responsibilities:

* Design, implement and test software to the required standards.

* Liaise with customers and stakeholders, internal and external, as needed.

* Generate technical documentation.

* Provide customer technical support as required.

Security Clearance:

Due to the nature of the product, candidates must meet the minimum requirements of SC security clearance.

Expectations, Background and Understanding:

* Demonstrable track record of C++ application software design & development through the entire lifecycle.

* Experience of software development for headless embedded Linux systems; this would range from considering the limitations of the target device during design to cross-compilation and remote debugging.

* Working knowledge of IP networking concepts, protocols and services e.g. routing, IGMP, DHCP, DNS.

* Awareness of information assurance and security principles.

* Ability to generate unambiguous software requirements based on user and system level requirements.

* Experience of creating appropriate software test strategies and operational confirmation.

* Strong configuration control abilities.
