My client is a major PLC with an impressive history and an exciting future. Established in Yorkshire in 1992, this exciting high growth business is one of the largest home improvement manufacturer, recognised nationwide for innovative design and the best engineering. With an expansive, 55,000 sq ft head office and distribution warehouse in Yorkshire and an extensive kitchen showroom at head office, they deliver a seamless service from concept to installation and aftercare to house builders, property developers and independent showroom clients nationwide.

Due to an exciting period of growth and a solid plan in place for further expansion, we are seeking to add an additional Kitchen Designer into our design team. As a Kitchen Designer, you will be responsible for creating detailed and accurate kitchen designs using Computer-Aided Design (CAD) software. Your expertise will play a crucial role in transforming client requirements and specifications into functional and aesthetically appealing kitchen layouts. You will collaborate with clients, architects, project managers, installations, and other team members to ensure the successful completion of kitchen design projects.

Key Responsibilities:

Kitchen Design: Utilize CAD software (e.g.AutoCAD, SketchUp, 2020 Design) to develop comprehensive and precise kitchen designs based on client needs, space constraints, and design principles. These could be one off kitchens or full kitchen tender packs.

Client Collaboration: Interact with clients to understand their requirements, preferences, and budget constraints. Offer expert advice and suggestions to optimize kitchen functionality and visual appeal.

Space Planning: Efficiently plan and allocate kitchen space to accommodate appliances, cabinets, countertops, and other fixtures while adhering to building codes and safety regulations.

Attend design, technical and site meetings.

Detailed Documentation: Create detailed technical drawings, blueprints, and 3D models to communicate design concepts effectively to clients and other team members.

Project Coordination: Collaborate with other professionals, such as architects, contractors, and vendors, to ensure the smooth execution of kitchen projects from conception to completion.

Design Modifications: Accommodate changes and modifications requested by clients or project stakeholders, ensuring that the final design meets all requirements.

Stay Updated: Keep abreast of emerging design trends, new kitchen products, and technologies to continuously improve and innovate kitchen designs.

Quality Control: Ensure all kitchen designs comply with industry standards, local regulations, and safety guidelines.

Requirements:

  • Proven experience as a Kitchen CAD Designer or a related role in the interior design or kitchen industry.
  • Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, SketchUp, 2020 Design) and other design tools.
  • Strong understanding of kitchen design principles, space planning, a technical or interior design background.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with clients and team members.
  • Ability to interpret client needs and translate them into practical and appealing design solutions.
  • Attention to detail and a keen eye for aesthetics.
  • Time management skills to meet deadlines and handle multiple projects simultaneously.
  • A degree in Interior Design, Architecture, or a related field is preferred but not always mandatory, as practical experience may also be considered.
