The role's purpose is to partner with the Category Director & team, providing proactive commercial finance decision support to drive category growth. Ensure delivery of the net margin budget with effective financial controls and processes.
What you'll be doing:
- Forecast supplier rebates accurately for Stark UK by Brand, identifying rebate opportunities and risks, and explaining purchase and rebate movements.
- Partner with the Category Director, challenge financial performance, identify growth opportunities, support strategic initiatives, and act as their FD.
- Model different supplier deal options, including scenario testing, with recommendations.
- Create margin exception reports for Category Managers, diagnosing issues at net margin level, including analysis of price inflation and mix.
- Track net margin through analysis of components like rebates, ECS, and by supplier and SKU.
- Provide risk analysis on system price realignment when needed.
- Offer financial insights to support category review processes, including external sources like GfK.
- Monitor working capital aspects such as ROI, stock levels, creditor days, rebate terms, and cost of capital.
- Provide ad-hoc financial analysis and interpretation as required.
- Deliver short-term projects and activities to agreed standards and outcomes.
What you'll need to have:
- PQ ACCA, CIMA, or equivalent qualification
- Proven ability to drive cost efficiencies
- Proficiency in financial modeling and clear summarization of insights
- Experience working with executive members and cross-functional teams
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and attention to detail skills
- Strong interpersonal skills for trust-building and collaboration
- Ability to present data confidently to executives
- Experience in commercial finance is desirable
