About the team

This role is embedded at the heart of Logistics Technology. The team operates in a .NET, Kafka, Azure Cloud, Flink environment, driving multiple Logistic Transformation initiatives and integration strategies.

What you'll do

1. Lead and enable the delivery of technology solutions that create value, drive efficiency, and increase performance for the business.
2. Line manage and guide a multi-skilled engineering team, ensuring they have the necessary resources and skills to deliver end-to-end technical solutions for products.
3. Mentor and coach team members, recruit diverse talented individuals, and promote a culture of collaboration, learning, and respect.
4. Work closely with Product Managers and Engineers to define the vision and technical direction of products, manage multiple deliveries, and take end-to-end ownership of products, including change and service management.
5. Drive the development of new features, promote best engineering practices, and advocate for agile/lean delivery methodologies.
6. Manage initiative-level budgets, ensure adherence to processes and standards, and contribute positively to a culture of excellence and inclusivity.

Who you are

1. A passionate and experienced engineering leader with a deep understanding of engineering practices and a talent for coaching and developing teams.
2. Possess a strong understanding of technology environments, lead by example, and inspire colleagues, fostering collaboration and continuous improvement.
3. Have technical expertise and the ability to prioritize and manage multiple deliveries, driving successful development and delivery of large-scale platforms.
4. Excel in making well-informed technical decisions, implementing best practices, and managing Capex and Opex responsibilities.
5. Possess strong leadership and communication skills, build relationships at all levels, and contribute to the inclusive and diverse culture valued by Sainsbury's Tech.
