Islington, London NOTTING HILL GENESIS

Can you help us to deliver outstanding residential and mixed-use developments, using your expertise in architectural design?

We're seeking a talented Design Manager to provide technical leadership and support to the Development team on architectural design, interior design/specification, landscape design, and other design and technical issues.

You'll promote and drive design quality and value for money in all new developments, with a particular focus on resident experience.

Notting Hill Genesis is one of London's leading housing associations and residential developers. We have an ambitious programme to build 1000 mixed-tenure homes per year. Our development pipeline includes a range of exciting projects that will deliver high quality new homes and create diverse and thriving communities. We are commercially minded whilst keeping our social purpose at the heart of everything we do.

This is an excellent opportunity if you are looking for a varied role where you can apply your existing skills and expertise to a new set of challenges, whilst developing your knowledge further within a friendly and supportive team. You can help improve the way we work, and have a positive impact on the homes we build and places we create.

Main Responsibilities

Our internal project managers lead and oversee the delivery of our development projects, from feasibility through planning, tender, construction and handover. You'll provide expert support at each stage, guiding and challenging your colleagues and their project teams to help ensure designs and specifications achieve NHG's objectives.

You'll influence developments by leading design review meetings and workshops, commenting on designs and specifications, advising on design issues, and helping with selection and briefing of architects and other design consultants.

We'll also rely on you to work at a strategic level, embedding design best practice across all projects. You'll develop standard design guides and technical specifications, lead on design optimisation initiatives, help to implement quality management processes, and help colleagues to grow their knowledge and skills through training and briefings.

Please note we operate a hybrid style of working where you'll spend at least 3 days per week working in London, usually from our Kings Cross office but sometimes attending external meetings and site visits.

Ideal Candidate

We're open minded when thinking of hiring the right person and we'd welcome applicants from a variety of professional backgrounds. You may have previously worked for an architectural practice (or other relevant consultancy firm), property developer, housebuilder, contractor, housing association, or similar.

You will need to be a clear and confident communicator to build great relationships and influence decision-makers. You'll be our trusted advisor, so excellent design and technical knowledge will be important to make your mark in this role, as well as creativity, attention to detail, and a can-do attitude to problem solving.

See the role profile for full details of the knowledge, experience and skills we're looking for.
