Data Protection Senior Associate – City of London

Industry leading in Data Protection matters, with clients spanning the advanced manufacturing, retail and consumer, energy and utilities, biosciences, and financial services sectors.
The Team:
The firm is looking to recruit a Senior Associate to help deliver primarily on the execution side of the fast growing data protection practice.
You will be responsible for supporting blue chip, FTSE and International clients with the full spectrum of data protection work.
This will include critical compliance advice in corporate transactions; freedom of information (FOI) Act and compliance; strategic advice on merger and harmonisation of databases following acquisition; full compliance audits and implementation for large retailers and financial services providers; all aspects of data commercialisation from the structuring of contracts to compliance procedures to be undertaken at domestic and global level including multijurisdictional advice; partnership, joint venture (JV) and affinity arrangements; data aggregation, legacy data and database consolidation; advising on privacy and compliance matters for mobile applications; and , implementation of Binding Corporate Rules (BCR) for global businesses.
The practice consists of 2 teams – the Data Protection team and the Reputation and Information Protection Team.
You will be responsible for:
Supervising more junior Lawyers in the team
Advising clients on data protection law, which will include GDPR & PEC
Managing your own workload and supporting with general commercial work where necessary
Experience
Qualified Solicitor (4 PQE+) in England and wales
Strong legal and technical knowledge around data protection law
Strong communication and drafting skills
Experience of coaching / mentoring more junior lawyers
