Working alongside sales, operations and technical teams you will be responsible for the entire category management of a range of products. You will have full accountability of commercial targets, developing processes, managing suppliers and building long standing relationships.

Established for over 60 years our client is a leading Building Supplies Merchant headquartered in the Midlands. Sustained growth has seen an exciting opportunity for a Category Manager to join their infrastructure division.

Description

  • Accountability for all Category supplier terms negotiations
  • Analysing data to understand trends and identify opportunities
  • Accuracy of product file, rebates and their collection, with management of invoice queries that may arise
  • Driving your categories forwards, working closely with internal stakeholders, such as marketing, to drive activity, performance and implementation of category plans
  • Accountability for the creation and management of strategic supplier relationships, clearly defining and maintaining preferred supplier relationships and product ranges with robust rationalisation and considered growth where required.
  • Ensuring products meet customer requirements and statutory, quality and legal standards
  • Building strong relationships with your supply base to achieve strong pricing and service levels
  • Strong team player who enjoys working closely with others
  • Working cross-functionally with the Inventory, Marketing, Technical, Sales, & Operations teams to implement Category strategies and drive standard forwards
  • Awareness and analysis of main competitors and market landscape.

Profile

Suitable candidates for the Category Management role will:

* Have a successful, recent background in Category Management/Product Management/Buying* Experience and knowledge related to the development of internal and external networks* Able to influence key stakeholders both internally and externally* Ability to negotiate commercial terms at a strategic level * Advanced commercial and numeracy skills with a strong understanding of trading accounts and rebates* Able to deliver against challenging targets and results
