About Faculty

Faculty transforms organisational performance through safe, impactful and human-led AI.

We are Europe’s leading applied AI company, and saw its potential a decade ago – long before the current hype cycle.

We founded in 2014 with our Fellowship programme, training academics to become commercial data scientists.

Today, we provide over 300 global customers with industry-leading software, and bespoke AI consultancy for retail, healthcare, energy, and governmental organisations, as well as our award winning Fellowship.

Our expertise and safety credentials are such that OpenAI asked us to be their first technical partner, helping customers deploy cutting-edge generative AI safely.

Our high-impact work has saved lives through forecasting NHS demand during covid, produced green energy by routing boats towards the wind, slashed marketing spend by predicting customer spending habits, and kept children safe online.

AI is an epoch-defining technology. We want people to join us who can help our customers reap its enormous benefits safely.

About the role

AI is starting to have a significant impact on the Life Sciences industry, an impact which will grow dramatically over the next decade and beyond.

Faculty have operated at the cutting edge of AI for the last decade, prioritising, designing, building and running AI software for customers right across the economy.

We recently started to work with Life Sciences companies, and have seen this grow quickly.

We are now looking to bring in leadership to oversee Life Sciences as a standalone business unit and accelerate its growth.

What you’ll be doing

This is a leadership position, and a rare opportunity to shape a substantial part of the business in your image.

You will be responsible for the Life Sciences Business Unit at Faculty; setting the commercial direction, building the team, developing the customer base and owning the P&L.

You will inherit a set of existing customer relationships, technology and an expert team to build from, but you will have freedom to design and implement the strategy in this sector.

This will be a hands-on role, especially in the early stages of growth where you will be involved in most of the things the team does.

Who you are

As a member of Faculty’s leadership team it is important that you share our values and ways of working.

You will thrive in this role if:

  • You love technology. You proudly self describe as ‘a bit of a geek.’

  • You enjoy building a team, and developing smart people. Your preference is to work with people whose potential is greater than their current stock of experience, and you know how to make them happy and get the best out of them.

  • You have strong commercial reflexes. You know how to zero in on where the value lies, and care about securing your share of it.

  • You are pragmatic and outcome-focused. You know how to balance the big picture with the little details, revel in the craft of getting things done in an imperfect world, and take personal accountability for execution.

  • You are empirically minded and evidence led. You test assumptions, seek evidence and are precise, logical and structured in your thought processes.

  • You are a natural problem solver. You are frustrated by inefficient things, and seek to optimise. You boil down complicated concepts and systems to their essence.

  • You like to share problems, and work with others. Your natural tendency is to ask, and you enjoy being asked.

The experience, skills and knowledge you bring

  • A strategic understanding of the Life Sciences sector, and a clear vision of where the highest impact opportunities for AI software lie.

  • A track record of selling and leading consulting services into the Life Sciences sector.

  • High levels of credibility with senior stakeholders, and a strong set of relationships in the sector.

  • A track record of building highly functioning teams and supporting the development of high potential people.

What we can offer you

We all have one thing in common: we are driven by a deep intellectual curiosity that powers us forward each day. Faculty is the professional challenge of a lifetime. You’ll be surrounded by an impressive group of brilliant minds working to achieve our collective goals. Our consultants, product developers, business development specialists, operations professionals and more all bring something unique to Faculty, and you’ll learn something new from everyone you meet. You’ll also have the opportunity to make your mark on a high-growth start-up now poised to expand internationally.

Fostering talent is one of our core values, it’s built into our culture and what we offer. Faculty was founded by people who are passionate about continuous learning, and adding value to our people.
