Communication Support Worker (BSL)

Reed is supporting a well-established Further Education provider in Cambridge with the recruitment of a Communication Support Worker (CSW) to support Deaf and hard-of-hearing learners within an inclusive and supportive learning environment.This is a full-time, permanent, term-time only role, offering an excellent opportunity to make a meaningful difference in learners' lives while benefiting from a strong package of staff benefits.
The RoleAs a Communication Support Worker, you will play a key role in ensuring Deaf learners can fully access education and achieve their potential. Working closely with teaching and support teams, your responsibilities will include:
- Providing communication support to Deaf and hard-of-hearing learners across a range of vocational programmes
- Promoting learner independence, confidence and inclusion
- Supporting students to access the curriculum and engage in lessons
- Adapting communication methods to meet individual learner needs
- Building positive, professional relationships with learners and staff
About YouWe are keen to hear from candidates who:
- Hold Level 3 British Sign Language (Signature, CACDP, SEG or Scottish equivalent)
- Ideally hold, or are working towards, a recognised Communication Support Worker qualification
- Have GCSE Grade C / 4 or equivalent in English and Maths
- Have experience supporting Deaf learners and/or learners with SEND (desirable)
- Are empathetic, flexible and committed to inclusive education
