Fetcham, Surrey Surrey County Council

The salary range for this role starts at £80,977 and goes up to £92,278 per annum based on working 36 hours per week.

Everyday professionals in Surrey are working with children, young people and their families to deliver safe and inclusive practice that enables individuals and communities to be seen, heard and thrive.

Reporting to Patricia Denney- Director for Quality Assurance and Performance, we are looking for a qualified social care leader with a proven track record of having delivered positive outcomes for children and young people that have made a real difference. You will be joining Surrey at a pivotal moment where we have momentum and are looking to build positively on the foundations of recent findings from our latest Ofsted report.

The opportunity:

Whilst we recognise the importance and impact of our recent positive progress there are still opportunities to improve the way we do things on our journey to being outstanding.

As our Assistant Director for Quality Practice and Performance you will play an integral part in leading service improvement work and raising standards against our Quality Assurance Framework to ensure that the quality of our social care practice is high and consistent across statutory services and is delivered within available resources.

You will be responsible for quality assuring work across our professional children's services, providing strategic management to our Independent Chairs, LADOs, Family Group Conferences, Education Safeguarding, Child Employment, Audit Practice Standards, Information Governance and the Performance & Intelligence Teams for Children's Social Care and Education as well as the Systems Training team. To do this you will need a strong understanding and practical experiences of the statutory services we provide.

We're looking for an innovative thinker who can problem solve and work collaboratively with partners and stakeholders to ensure that across Surrey we champion best practice that roots the safeguarding and welfare of children and young people at the heart of decisions. This will involve looking at best practice both regionally and nationally to drive continuous improvement whilst remaining compliant with relevant legislation and the professional agenda.

This is a big relationship management role where you will work with and alongside elected members, senior and operational managers and practitioners as well as external partners, therefore an ability to communicate authentically and with authority will be key. You'll be committed to leading with insight, using audit and performance data and information to make well-reasoned judgements to understand and identify areas or practice and performance where there are opportunities for further learning and development or where standards can be strengthened and improved.

We are looking for a social care leader who can inspire and motivate others and who role models our values and behaviours. This is a role with purpose, where what you do will ensure that we truly know ourselves and have confidence that we are supporting real people and real lives in a positive way. We are on a mission to be an excellent children's service, highly valued by the Surrey residents we support and the partner organisations we work with. We are looking for our next Assistant Director who shares this commitment, if that's you then please get in touch, we'd love to hear from you.
