The Digital Data Engineering team provides high-quality, scalable data solutions across the ASOS Digital Domain, promoting best practices, modern technologies, and team education. As a Data Engineer, you will be hands-on with critical projects, enabling digital platforms to leverage data effectively while ensuring continuous improvement, adherence to best practices, and team development through pairing. You will have the opportunity to solve problems and innovate across various ASOS Data engineering projects.

What you'll be doing:
  1. Develop solutions using Microsoft Azure and Databricks: Prioritize simplicity and maintainability, ensure thorough testing, automate deployments, and implement appropriate monitoring.
  2. Optimize Data pipelines, frameworks, and systems: Facilitate easier development of data artifacts.
  3. Support production applications: Data Pipelines, Core data infrastructure, etc.
  4. Create proof of concepts: Explore innovative data utilization, present findings, and conduct feasibility tests like performance evaluations, data modeling, and cost analysis.
  5. Collaborate with engineering leads and Product managers: Set and maintain standards and practices that ensure high delivery cadence and scalable, quality solutions.
  6. Work within an agile, cross-functional team: Take responsibility for deliverables and quality.
  7. Stay updated with emerging data technologies: Bring value through early adoption.
  8. Build strong relationships: Collaborate across business, science, analytics, and engineering partners.
Previous experience in a Data Engineering role:
  1. Passion for data and industry best practices in a dynamic environment.
  2. Proficiency in technologies such as Spark/PySpark, Azure Data services, Python or Scala, SQL, testing frameworks, open table formats, CI/CD workflows, and cloud infrastructure management.
  3. Excellent communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  4. Broad expertise in delivering data product solutions.
  5. Commitment to high customer service standards.
  6. Experience delivering and maintaining complex, high-volume, high-performance software systems.
  7. Experience with cloud-based solutions and agile methodologies.
Nice to Have:
  1. Experience in retail and/or e-commerce.
  2. Knowledge of Big Data, Distributed Computing, and streaming technologies like Spark Structured Streaming or Apache Flink.
  3. Additional programming skills in PowerShell or Bash.
  4. Understanding of Databricks Ecosystem components.
  5. Familiarity with Data Observability or Data Quality Frameworks.
